fabulous friends / my winter hiatus
It is probably not love that makes the world go around, but rather those mutually supportive alliances through which partners recognize their dependence on each other for the achievement of shared and private goals.
- Fred A. Allen
Friends, especially good ones, are such an incredible part of life. There’s no knowing when a stranger will become a good friend and when a good friend will become a lifelong friend: Sometimes, you know in an instant. Other times, it takes a few exchanges and encounters before you start to really know a person. Then, there are those that, if you let them, will evolve into something magical and awesome.
With the advent of the internet, Facebook, mobile phones, apps, etc., I think it’s more convenient to judge a person rather than get to know him/her (and I really don’t believe first impressions are the end all/be alls to a person). Because of this, I’ve finally learned to relish being disconnected (to an extent). Awesome are the one-on-one, in-person, heck – even heart-to-heart conversations.Awesome are the unexpected emails that I find in my inbox waiting for me when I visit the cyber and go online. Awesome are the friends who randomly message me when they see me online. Awesome are the friends who call or text randomly simply because they want to.
Good friends are life’s gemstones so take chances. Transcend borders. Communicate openly and honestly. Invest in the people who you want to matter in your life.

my winter hiatus
December’s been an incredible month for me. The best part? It’s not even over yet.
I’ll be on a hiatus from here for a little while (minus the sporadic sharing of what I read and recommend). I’ll be checking email regularly and Facebook sporadically (inshallah?). Life beckons, ya know?
Happy holidays to everyone – see you in 2012!
