multicolored chicks

Posted in Uncategorized by Diana on October 3, 2011

Who knew that baby chickens came in pink, green, and red colors?

Certainly not I.

Making my way out of souk, I walked passed the chicken vendor. No, not poultry (dead chicken) – live chickens.

Apparently, the vendor dyed the chicks…or perhaps he fed them colored water? Who knows. Nonetheless, I got a good laugh from seeing multicolored chicks walking around their fenced-in area.

All you have to do is inject dye into the eggs a couple weeks before they hatch. They will lose the bright colors as soon as the undergo their first molt.
