defunking from COS highs

There will be dreams grander or humbler than your own, but there will never be a dream exactly like your own…for you are unique and more wondrous than you know.

More than one COSing PCV, including myself, is suffering from COS conference withdrawal. The week was an intense social gathering, both in terms of everyone coming together and dispersing back to the final weeks of service.

There was some initial hesitation about regrouping. SO many people to see! So many people I haven’t seen! So much has happened between staging and now…yikes!

Of course, once everyone actually came together, the stress of needing to socialize subsided. I think people naturally gravitated towards those they felt comfortable being around and those whom they wanted to spend additional time with. I know I did – I sought out people who I hadn’t seen much of lately, wanted to catch up with, wanted to tie up loose ends with, and wanted to get to know just a bit more.

Knowing that this could be the last time (until TBD) I’d see some people, I chose to allocate my time accordingly.

Departing Rabat made for a tough/funky journey back to site. The air was thick with unspoken emotions and sentiments. People were coming off of a major Peace Corps HIGH…and making their way back to site, a place so different from the city and among people who live such a different lifestyle than the one we all had in the past week.

Okay…I’m babbling. This is my way of defunking myself out of the PC HIGH I came out of COS conference with. What an incredible week, what an incredible experience.

Just a few more weeks…a few more (busy) weeks.
